You Are a Philanthropist

Philanthropy is about giving time, talent, or treasure to make your community better. And that means anyone with something to give can be a philanthropist.

“We are very proud to be involved with and a contributor to Horizon Community Foundation. They are making a real difference in Northern Kentucky where we both grew up and have lived for many years of our lives.”

Bob and Linda Kohlhepp

“As a group of college students, we were able to make a difference. One does not need to be rich or famous to donate time, money and energy for people in need.”

NKU Mayerson Student Philanthropy Participant

“The most significant thing I have learned is that there are ways that I can become involved in helping and changing the community I live in. Right now, it makes me want to do more to help my community.”

“I saw firsthand the student excitement during the project and then experienced it again reading my students’ reflections that communicated the impact on learning outcomes and their awakened desire to give back.”

Dr. Megan Downing,
Associate Professor of Organizational Leadership, NKU

“Through the program, I was able to exercise leadership skills while also learning more about what it means to be a philanthropist. In leading others through the process, I learned the importance of giving back to your community and those around you.”

Zoe Moore, alumna of Magnified Giving at Clermont Northeastern High School

“I am always touched/impacted by students that begin this process semi-disconnected and find themselves drawn in when they find agencies they can relate to. This year a couple of students really connected to military agencies because of bonds they have with grandparents. In the second semester a couple of students connected with Back2Back ministries because their families support orphans and families in poverty on a regular basis. Students start to engage in the process through interest and passion.”
