NDUEC Fund

The Notre Dame Urban Education Center (NDUEC) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering children in grades PreK-12 through education, offering four transformative programs: Early Learning, Homework Plus, Summer Academics, and Family Support. Located in the heart of Covington, Kentucky, NDUEC serves students from low- and moderate-income families by providing high-quality academic programs and enrichment opportunities that foster intellectual growth, promote personal responsibility, and cultivate a lifelong learning mindset. Our main services include early childhood education to prepare children for kindergarten, after-school tutoring and homework assistance, literacy and math interventions, enrichment activities, and parent engagement initiatives. Guided by the educational mission of the Sisters of Notre Dame, NDUEC fosters a safe, nurturing, and academically focused environment where every child is encouraged to reach their full potential.

Transformative Programs

  1. The Early Learning program focuses on essential pre-reading and kindergarten readiness skills for underserved children with the long-term goal of improving educational achievement. NDUEC uses an evidence-based curriculum that highlights pre-literacy, numeracy, and cultural enrichment for pre-kindergarten students.
  2. The Homework Plus program was created to reduce educational gaps for students in grades K-12 by providing one-on-one tutoring with adult and high school volunteers. It includes three main components: homework assistance, personalized tutoring, and enrichment activities.
  3. Building on the foundation of the Homework Plus program, Summer Academics offers students a unique opportunity for one-on-one support in math, English, and reading every June. This service aims to provide a personalized experience that encourages academic success by establishing a strong foundation for retaining learning between school years.
  4. The Family Support program demonstrates our dedication to the overall development of our students. It seeks to provide life skills training and guidance to help parents effectively support their children’s academic growth. Each Family Support night includes a hot meal for families and features guest speakers discussing various relevant topics, followed by related group activities.
