NKY Trail Fund
Trails are for everyone. Trails contribute to better health, providing access to transportation, connection and confidence, recreation and adventure. We believe in a happier, healthier place to live and raise our families. Connecting people with nature and the outdoors improves everyone’s overall wellbeing. This fund supports trail initiatives in Northern Kentucky facilitated by CORA (Cincinnati Off-Road Alliance), our region’s non-profit trail building organization. CORA’s vision is to build 375 miles of shared–use trails, 18 bike parks and skills courses by 2030, with much of that providing access for the 400,000+ residents of Northern Kentucky. That’s exactly what the NKY Trail Fund helps make possible.
CORA is partnering with OneNKY Alliance and Tri-State Trails on the Northern Kentucky Regional Trails Plan, connecting 934 miles of trail, building a braided trail network in the heart of our region. This expands safe, equitable transportation options and increasing opportunities for walking and biking as everyday modes of travel. Trails strengthen communities. Access to trails drive community growth, directly benefiting local restaurants, businesses, increased tax revenue and investments. In Kentucky alone, outdoor recreation generates 120,000 direct jobs, $12.8 Billion in annual consumer spending, $3.6 Billion in wages and salaries, and $756 Million in state and local tax revenue (Recreation Economy Kentucky, 2023, Outdoor Industry Association).
Bike parks build confidence and act as a magnet to get kids outside. It is proven that kids who engage in outdoor exercise perform better in school, with an increased attention span and improved grades. We believe in creating outlets for kids to build habits that can carry into their adulthood. Fund sustainable trail access and trail programming that sparks an active outdoor culture across our region.
