The 410 and Give Where You Live NKY Unite to Strengthen Collective Giving in Northern Kentucky

Horizon Community Foundation of Northern Kentucky announces the merger of its two signature giving circles, The 410 and Give Where You Live NKY, into a single, unified initiative: The 410: Give Where You Live NKY. The merger brings together shared values, members, and momentum to expand collective philanthropy and civic engagement across Boone, Kenton, and Campbell counties.

Both giving circles were created to engage people who live or work in Northern Kentucky in hands-on philanthropy. Over time, Horizon Community Foundation identified an opportunity to align their missions and formats to create a stronger, more accessible giving experience with greater regional impact.

Through an annual $410 commitment, members pool their resources to learn about local needs and collectively fund innovative projects strengthening Northern Kentucky. In the new format, members vote to fund projects through two fast-paced mini-grant selection events and a traditional grant cycle, creating a dynamic, year-round approach to local giving.

In 2025, members of both giving circles supported organizations advancing education, inclusion, and well-being across the region. Give Where You Live NKY awarded its December 2025 grant to Milestones, Inc., supporting its therapeutic horseback riding program, which provides individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities opportunities for physical, emotional, and social growth through equine-assisted therapy. The 410 awarded grants to Esperanza Latino Center of Northern Kentucky, expanding culturally responsive mental health and wellness supports for the Hispanic/Latino community, and UpSpring, supporting its After School Program in Northern Kentucky for children experiencing homelessness. Collectively, the two giving circles have awarded $300,000 to 31 nonprofits to date.

“I look forward to The 410 each year! It’s a great way to contribute to the local community. I’ve enjoyed coming together with other members to decide how to invest these funds. Mostly, I appreciate learning about the great initiatives the community organizes,” shares Shannon Peterson, who has been a giving circle member since 2022.

Horizon Community Foundation envisions a Northern Kentucky with a vibrant, inclusive culture of philanthropy that cultivates the next generation of civic and philanthropic leaders while building permanent charitable resources to address today’s needs and tomorrow’s opportunities.

Individuals who live or work in Northern Kentucky are invited to be part of this next chapter in local giving.
