The 410: Give Where You Live NKY Kicks Off with First Event, Awards $7,500 to Emergency Shelter of NKY

COVINGTON, KY: May 5, 2026 — Horizon Community Foundation of Northern Kentucky officially launched the newly unified The 410: Give Where You Live NKY giving circle with its first kickoff event last Thursday, bringing members together to make an immediate local impact. By the end of the evening, participants collectively awarded a $7,500 grant to the Emergency Shelter of Northern Kentucky.
The event marked the first gathering since the merger of Horizon's two signature giving circles—The 410 and Give Where You Live NKY—into a single, more powerful initiative designed to expand collective philanthropy across the region.
By combining membership, resources, and momentum, the new model creates a more accessible and engaging experience for donors while increasing the potential for community impact. Members commit annually, pool their contributions, and take part in a dynamic, hands-on process to identify and fund local needs.
The updated format features fast-paced mini-grant selection events, like the kickoff, alongside a traditional grant cycle. Members have the opportunity to nominate nonprofits, hear live pitches, and vote to direct funding in real time, putting decision-making directly in the hands of the community.
"Our members showed up ready to make an impact right here at home," said Nancy Grayson, President and CEO of Horizon Community Foundation. "This is what collective giving looks like and we're just getting started."
The energy in the room reflected the purpose behind the merger: bringing people together around a shared commitment to Northern Kentucky. Every nomination, pitch, and vote contributes to tangible support for nonprofits serving Boone, Campbell, and Kenton counties.
"When people come together with a shared purpose, generosity goes further," Nancy shared. "This is more than a single event, it's the start of sustained momentum, stronger connections, and deeper local investment."
Additional events and grant opportunities are scheduled throughout the year as part of the program's ongoing cycle of engagement and impact. To learn more or become a member for next year's cycle, visit: The 410: Give Where You Live NKY
